1. What is the Public File?

Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK media regulator.

The Public File contains details of elements Ofcom regulate over, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for the community we serve.

The Public File is available as a print out on request. Any comments on the file can be made to us or Ofcom.

2. News Bulletins

We live in an age where people expect to be able to get news 24 hours a day and JACKfm is committed to delivering this expectation to listeners in Bristol when you need it - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. JACKfm is committed to broadcasting a mixture of local, national and world news. There are also regular sport, entertainment and business updates. News bulletins are aired on the hour 24 hours a day and every 20 minutes during weekday breakfast and drivetime. There is one extended news bulletin at 1pm (10 minutes) and a news/lifestyle programme, Bristol Tonight, at 6pm weekdays (30mins). All our bulletins are locally produced and presented. Between 8pm and 5am (7 days a week) we broadcast national news followed by a 2 minute local bulletin. All other times our bulletins are a mixture of national and local news.

7. Events & Charities we support

Since its inauguration on 2nd December 2009 , JACKfm has been actively involved in local community and charity projects. We also offer an 'JACKtivities FreeAds' opportunity to local charities, enabling their spokesperson to come to the studios and record a message, encouraging support of an event or charitable cause. This message is then played out 5 times a day for one week. There are examples below of what our community involvement to date has included:

Mini V Festival, Chew Valley.
Arco Avonmouth Big Event.
Summer Stroll from Bath to Bristol, Meningitis UK.
Jeremy Fraser, Penny Brohn Cancer Care.
Hop, Skip & Jump,
Macmillan Bring A Pound To Work Day.
