Life Sentence From Bristol Judge For Businessman Who Killed Wife

Monday, February 8th 2010 00:00

A wealthy businessman found guilty of murdering his wife, even though a body has never been discovered, has been sentenced to life in prison.

Adrian Prout was told on Friday that he had been found guilty of his wife, Kate's murder back in 2007.

On Bonfire Night she went missing from their home in Gloucestershire after a row over a divorce settlement.

Five days later he reported her missing.  Despite the biggest ever manhunt by Gloucestershire police, her body has never been found.

Kate's husband was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after her disappearance, but was only formally charged with her murder last March.

A Judge has told Prout he will serve a minimum of 18 years in prison.

What are your thoughts on "Life Sentence From Bristol Judge For Businessman Who Killed Wife "?

  1. If they didn't even find a body then how can anybody be so sure that he did it? I've read some of the judge's comments. They were presumptuous and stupid, and included remarks such as "You showed no emotion throughout this trial!" Things like that tell me that the legal system isn't very reliable.

  2. Withour hearing any evidence would someone tell me how such a clinical killer did not destroy her records in the five days which elapsed.
