Somerset want victory against Sussex this afternoon in a bid to progress to Lords final.

Pete Trego reckons that losing the T20 has made Somerset even more determined to win the CB40 in 2010.

He said: "Losing the T20 has made us even more determined to get pour hands on the CB40 at Lord's on September 18th."

"Whenever teams have a run of near losses then it is often followed by a win. If we can cross that winning line once then I think it will become a habit because we are building a strong team at the County Ground both for now and the future."

This afternoon (1.45pm) Somerset who are unbeaten and top Group A in the CB40 with 16 points from their eight games take on second placed Sussex, who have got four points less and played one game more at Horsham, knowing that another victory will take them a step nearer to their dream of lifting the trophy at Lord's.

Looking ahead to the game Trego said: When you play Sussex you know what to expect because they are a very well drilled and organised side and talented group of cricketers. We have played each other so many times over the last few years that it has almost become a local derby when we meet."

The all rounder from Weston super Mare added: "We will turn up and be on the top of our game and look to make it nine out of nine to stay on track for a place in the semi-finals in the CB40. We know that we are still fighting for two trophies and very much motivated to win some silverware and will be spurred on by coming second in the T20 again."

Jos Buttler who has been one of the revelation's in the Somerset camp this summer and who showed off his capabilities on the big stage in the T20 on Saturday before carrying it on against Lancashire at Taunton on Monday also wants to see some silverware this season.

The 19 year old from Wedmore said: "It was awesome playing in the T20 Final and its something I want to be part of with the club again and hopefully this year."

The young batting star added: "In one day cricket we now have to focus on the 40 over competition where we are doing very well and have got a great team spirit and playing very well. Hopefully a few more group wins will push us into the semi-finals and then the final at Lord's and maybe this time we will come back with the trophy."
