Sunday, August 8th 2010 07:15

It was opening day disappointment for Rovers, who suffered a heavy defeat at Peterborough.

Paul Trollope’s side had started the game well in the first half, and the Posh keeper Joe Lewis twice stopped the visitors taking the lead.

The Rovers defence held firm until 58 minutes when the home side, managed by former Bristol City boss Gary Johnson, took the lead.

George Boyd, Aaron Mclean and Grant McCann all got their names on the score sheet.

The visitors had a first half penalty appeal turned down when Joe Kaffour appeared to be pushed in the box.

Next for Rovers is a trip to Oxford United on Tuesday night for the first round of the Carling Cup.
