The England goalkeeper is gearing himself up for his expected debut for the club this weekend.
The 40-year-old has been training with his new team after signing a one year deal at Ashton Gate.
It's understood Steve Coppell will bring him in for their first game of the new season on Saturday, when they face Millwall at home.
James told us he's looking forward to taking on the newly promoted side:
"They're going to be full of life I'm sure, looking to show the
Championship what they're about. But the training's been good in the
last couple of days, the lads seem in good spirits.
First game of the season; hopefully it'll be sunny and three points - that's it."
