A woman from Weston Super Mare has been seriously injured in an explosion at a Spanish hotel.
Carol Gardener, 53, suffered a broken skull and severe burns when a steam pipe exploded next to her in the upmarket resort of Marbella.
She was breathing with the aid of a ventilator in a hospital intensive care unit.
Sister Julie Loud, 45, suffered a leg injury in the freak accident outside the three-star hotel where they were enjoying a week’s holiday.
The pair were injured as they walked along a side street running next to the 311-room Cortijo Blanco hotel between Marbella and San Pedro.
Mrs Gardener's two children Darren and Tanya, a former children’s rep at the hotel where the explosion happened have flown out to Spain to be with their parents.
