£1/2m will be spent on policing the English Defence League march through Bristol next weekend.

"There'll be 1,000 police officers, it'll be a very visable policing operation to ensure we can support all the people who are in the city centre that day. We want to minimise disruption for the general population who are trying to go about their daily business:" Assistant Chief Constable Anthony Bangham from Avon and Somerset Police told us.

The organisers of the Pride festival which is going on the same day at College Green have praised the police in their efforts to make sure the day goes smoothly.

"The police have taken great steps to make sure the EDL march doesn't come anywhere near the Pride Festival:" says organiser Darryn Carter.

"They've actually been moved to the otherside of the city and the timing of the march has also been moved to later in the day."
