More volunteers are needed for a Bristol charity, to help people with MS.

The group is called "Multiple Sclerosis Peoples Help" (MSPH) and it offers free DIY services for anyone locally suffering with the condition.

Since the group started seven years ago, they have built ramps, decorated, put up and lowered shelves, carried out garden maintenance, layed patios and cut hedges.

In the past, funding for this work has been raised mainly through donations and collections at supermarkets, but raising funds in this way has become more difficult recently.

Now a new shop is being launched in Thornbury, selling used clothes, brick-a-brack and other household items, in order to raise the cash needed.

Chairman of the group, Shaun McCarthy, who also has MS, told us adapting the home is a top priority to make people's lives a lot easier:

"We have been helping hundreds of people with MS for seven years.  To help us continue to do so, we are now asking people to help by volunteering in the shop and also donating used clothes and other household items.

"Although social services and occupational therapy do a lot of these services, there is quite a big waiting list, sometimes months.  We can usually turn the jobs around in two or three weeks, as long as we get the funding.  That is why we are starting the shop."
