Young woman dies after car crashes through railings into river in Bristol city centre.

A woman has died after a car left a bridge and went into a river in Bristol.

Emergency services were called out to Temple Back just after 4am on Saturday morning with a report that a silver BMW had left St Phillips Bridge and gone into the river. 

A woman died in the incident and two other people were taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment. 

Two others, a man and a woman, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are in police custody.

Six police officers went into the river to help the people involved and they were also taken to hospital.

A man was also killed following a fatal collision in Avonmouth at around 6.20pm on Friday 19th October.

A Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Tourag were involved in a collision on the A403 Smoke Lane. 

The driver of the Ford Fiesta died at the scene and while four occupants of the Tourag received minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for some time.
