Jim Ward who was shot in his office in Devizes, has died of his injuries.
He was attacked on the afternoon of 2nd July at the Morris, Goddard and Ward offices in the small town.
The 58-year-old was being treated for serious head injuries at Frenchay hospital but passed away yesterday afternoon.
Businessman Michael Chudley, 62, formally of Rowde, is accused of shooting the father-of-three with a sawn-off shotgun.
He's been charged with attempted murder and is currently in custody due to appear at Winchester Crown Court in September.
Police say they're now working with the Crown Prosecution Service following today's news.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Saunders said: "Our thoughts are with Jim's family and friends at this time. Jim was a popular and well respected man. At the time of his death his family were with him and they have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
"I will now be working with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure that the criminal charges faced by the man already charged with attempted murder properly reflect this change in the circumstances of the case."
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
