We could have to wait another 10 to 12 weeks until the new pier opens because of problems with the decking that might need to be replaced.
Just over 2 years ago the old pavilion burnt down during a fire and it was hoped it could re-open in time for this summer.
But there have been problems with various elements of the construction process which has set the project back.
We heard this week that one of the main subcontractors working on the development had gone bust.
This latest problem is with the new decking that's been laid around the pavilion which is showing signs of failing.
Structural engineers are now looking into the problem and in the process of compiling a report.
It's thought though, that the decking might have to be replaced and because it's a special sort of wood that needs to be used, that could take another 10 - 12 weeks.
Kerry Michael - one of the pier's owners, told us while they wait for a structural report to come back, it's a tough time for the whole town.
"It's horrid for everybody. It's obviously costing us dearly in terms of lost revenue but the broader impact is on our staff - people waiting to start jobs, the town itself, the other traders. Economically it's hurting a lot of people.
"I'm bitterly disappointed at missing the peak weeks - the school holidays, and it looks like we're going to carry on missing the rest of the season. We're looking at the possibility of a temporary fix so we can get open and carry out the repairs thereafter."
