Friday, September 3rd 2010 00:00

Andrew Cairns from Barnstaple, Devon, has been sentenced to five months in prison.

The 30-year-old was flying back from Malaga to Bristol airport in June, when he became abusive towards passengers and the cabin crew.

Police arrested him when the plane landed in Bristol and discovered he'd been drinking his own secret supply of alcohol throughout the flight.

We've been told today; Cairns pleaded guilty to drunk and bad behaviour on an aircraft and was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to five months in prison after he failed to appear at an earlier hearing.

Chris Ware, Head of Security at Bristol Airport, said: "Inappropriate behaviour when flying can spoil the experience for fellow passengers, as well as having safety implications.

"This case sends out a strong message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at the airport or on board a flight."
