Wayne MantonA Bristol man is trying to persuade more people to consider an apprenticeship as a route to a new career.
Wayne Manton from Longwell Green has been named one of 25 new Young Apprenticeship Ambassadors.
After dropping out of university he joined a scheme at Rolls Royce. He completed the training last year and has now taken on a full time job.
The group will work with the National Apprenticeship Service to offer advice on promoting apprenticeships to young people.
They will also be asked to use their experiences to improve the services businesses offer to trainees.
Wayne said: "Having experienced both study through university and an apprenticeship I can safely say that the apprenticeship was the best way into my chosen career.
"It offers you the chance to learn from industry experts in a field you want to work in whilst you are earning."
He said: "You gain recognised qualifications both vocationally and academically, setting you up for a career spanning long into the future."
Claire Young from the Alan Sugar television show The Apprentice will act as a mentor.
